Jurors: Rebecca Norris Webb and Alex Webb
Standing with a camera on a busy city street corner
may seem like the opposite of wandering down a country road with a tripod. Both situations, though,
provide rich opportunities for profound photographs. In this exhibition, we sought images that picture the urban and
rural scenes in ways that range from the dynamic to the contemplative. We are honored that the
outstanding photographic team of Rebecca Norris Webb and
Alex Webb took time from their amazingly busy schedules to be the jurors for CITY STREETS | COUNTRY ROADS.
Having photographed from the streets of Cuba to the back roads of North Dakota,
Rebecca and Alex offer a wealth of photographic experience in both city
and country. They will chose 40 photographs for display at PhotoPlace
Gallery from July 16 - August 10, 2013. They will also selected 35 additional photographs for
the gallery's Online Annex. All selected work will be included in a full-color exhibition catalog available for purchase.
To help artists defray costs, PhotoPlace Gallery offers to mat and frame work selected for exhibition free of charge, providing
artists print their images to our pre-cut mat and frame sizes. Submission fee: $25 for five photos, $6 each additional
photo.
Jurors' Statement: Whether photographed in the countryside or in an urban
setting, those images we were most drawn to tend to take us some place we’ve never been before. The
photographs in this exhibition range from portraits to street scenes to landscapes to still lifes, but they all share a sense
of mystery, surprise, or serendipity.
